Commute with Garrison Keillor, Zeno & the Dalai Lama

On the morning commute, I binge listen
to last week’s recordings of The Writer's Almanac
and contemplate Zeno's dichotomy paradox
in relation to the Dalai Lama's explanation of time
as the past bumping up against the future
leaving no present

As I watch the odometer tick off
it seems like Ferris' plan
should have worked
after all, anxiety thickens
as if an internal clock
could choose to recalibrate
like a river might alter its fork
en route to open water
