Thoughts lapse into

Panicked state -

Repeat offender

 

'Work the program'

'Keep coming back'

Jargon spins my mind

 

Sudden pattering at

Front window

Interrupts -

 

Small bird fluttering

Frantic to save itself

Repeatedly fails

 

I am on my feet

Finding a towel

Urgently propelled

 

I blanket his wings

Gently

Both hands restrain

 

At open door

I release him

Up and away!

 

'Ah!' I cry

I breathe

Shaking

 

Privileged interlude

Grateful

I surrender
