After every war,
Desolate places stare at us,
Ruins shade the day,
Gloom pervades as despair invades.

After every war,
Like leaves falling off feeble trees,
Tears stream down saddened eyes,
Hope desires a room.

After every war,
It’s a half sun that rises,
Stygian silhouettes veil the eyes,
Hope reaches out a hand.

Looking beyond the dark horizon,
The eyes search for a glimmer of hope,
The mind embraces a new dawn,
A new beginning opens its door.
