There was an old timer
I'd oft go to for advice
we'd sit on his porch in silence
then he'd break the quiet with a sentence or two
Yesterday I told him I hadn't been feeling well
he rocked and thought, thought and rocked
"Broth'll heal ya if you let it"
Seemed a strange thing for him to say
he stood up, tipped his hat, said "Good day"
on my way hope I couldn't help but wonder
what his cryptic message might mean
Along my path a house of ill repute
"No, I thought to myself
surely not!"
These places were known
for things a man would catch
not things that would cure
Still, the old timer had always proven sage
So I walked in, paid the price
Met Miss Gladys, she was plump but nice
I have to tell you a left with a happy feelin'
that old timer sure knew a thing or two
next day, an unusual itching
in places we shan't discuss
off to the old timer's I went questions filling my mind
There he sat on his porch sipping from a cup
at first I thought it to be coffee until he said
"Broth'll heal ya if you let it"
I sure hope it can fix my dilemma
Just goes to show ya
Sometimes we need clarification
now pass me that broth
without hesitation
