Drunk in love, we shouted praises for emancipation…only to have our voices silenced by the birth of a captive nation.
If you’re waiting for me to pray for America…then you better pray for patience.

Stay strong my sisters…come home my brothers.
Sentenced to 40 years, a slave to time. Doing time for a crime committed while black.
But don’t worry, you’ll receive a Facebook post for that.
Gone viral, my lips have gone viral, my hips have gone viral, my body has gone viral.
Infected by the notion that they “want to be us.”
Are you fucking kidding me?

Tell the truth, shame the devil.
It’s only cool to be black when it’s capitalized Be who you are.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a choice.
Because, while I’m a color, I’m also a voice.

Let my freedom ring. Let my freedom scream.
Y’all, let’s go the corner and pick up one of those “Black Lives Matter” tees.
I’m protesting the politics because we only do this when there’s a reason.
Your very life is at stake, yet we’d burn each other to a crisp
Just to keep warm.

STOP. HASHTAGGING. DEATH.

It’s one thing to honor a soldier in the battle of life, but we give attention to negativity that breeds insecurity that conceives a false security.
“Black people are coming up.”
News Flack: The American Dream is only attainable if you can see.
But we’re blinded by images of money, thinking this equals power.
Never has there ever been a bullet in the world that has stopped to ask a man, “Can you pay me to not kill you?”

Because once it leaves that chamber, it enters chambers to decide you whether your son is going to fail because daddy wasn’t there.
Single mother smoking heavy because that’s what gets her through, now she’s gotta be mom and dad with nothing but help from the state that’s encouraging her state to remain the same.

For us to be so woke, we’re sleeping on a lot of issues.
And maybe that’s because we got issues, but the issue that I take offense to is the issuing of issues to a generation that has never handled issues without issue.
We can’t get through anything without letting the world know that it’s a problem.
I’m not saying don’t seek support, but don’t look to “the others” to solve em.

I speak with authority because we’re living in a society where the validity of everything I say is based on whether or not I “articulate.”
Yet I’m bashed by my family for speaking white when I’m just trying to speak life so that we can all graduate.
Get our diploma from the school of inequality, mastering in being the master of our fates, doctorate in doctoring the wounds inflicted upon ourselves.
A man once had a dream…I believe we all can one day be free.
