Humor sublimes from our doings like dew,
Splashes in rivulets, flowing beyond,
Crashes the barricades, flooding anew,
Turning the desert to forest and pond.

Humor expands from us, filling balloons,
Colorful, bouncing, delighting the eye:
Passengers yodel diaphonous tunes,
Rising on zephyrs as tasty as pie.

Humor consorts with our deepest desires,
Coddles and comforts our dreams when they fail.
Humor responds to our guttering fires,
Fosters encouragement, hearty and hale.

Humor to us is intrinsic as sweat:
Cuter, however, a charming coquette.
