O D E   T O   B O O K S
By Layla Wright

Books will always vary
Deckled edges
Sprayed pages
And shiny covers like gold plated crowns
Books are adventures to put in your pocket
Though empathy
Is something
They lack
They spark tears as if it means nothing
But bring a smile to your face
Just the same
Books steal all your time
Without an ounce of remorse
But in return
They give words
Worth it all
Pages will bring comfort
In the dead of the night
But brew up a storm deep inside
With bittersweet endings
And salty goodbyes
I can assure you
Reading will ruin your life.
