On car rides as a child I would imagine someone was skateboarding beside the car
The faceless figure performed tricks and feats of gravitational improbability all for my entertainment
If we stopped at a gas station the figure became a dinosaur, eating the local vegetation at great heights and drinking from the local lakes and puddles with its great long neck, and if we went to church the dinosaur became Spider Man, climbing the stain glass windows and swinging from the light fixtures
The skateboarder, dinosaur and Spider Man showed up less and less as I grew older, but so slowly that I didn’t miss them
What happened to my imagination?
