I’ve listened to a lecture that was very long.
It made me realize I was completely wrong.
They think I am a drunk, I’ll show them what I can.
From now on I will be a sober man.

I’ll triumph over them; my people will be shocked –
How silent has become the one that always rocked!
I will be decent, noble, nice and full of charm.
Sobriety is never doing harm.

I’ll have to keep my liquor standing on its shelf
Because it is not able to defend itself.
My beer from the fridge will not be thrown away.
It would be cruel not to let it stay.

Under my bed I’ll save some wine and whiskey, just
In case.
Don’t look like that, I do deserve some trust
And lace.
And I don’t know yet how to prove that it is not a lie,
But I’m a soberist, my fellow, till I die.

I cannot stop right off, though this is not some punk.
Thing is – today I am already drunk.
For men like me it is a shame, and to forget this hell
Tomorrow night I will be drunk as well.

I could have done it then, I would have changed my ways,
But Friday sure is one of the holy days.
The Bible says: “Thou shalt proceed from dark to light,
But never do it on a Friday night”.

The next day would be good to find again my course,
But Saturday is quite a holy day, of course.
And everybody knows that if you’re not a nun
On Sunday you are also having fun.

Here, on the carpet lies a bottle of wine,
That’s due.
Don’t ever touch it, it’s an older friend of mine
Than you.
And I don’t know how many days I have been drinking in a row,
But I am not an alcoholic, no-no-no.

Sobriety will help you well to notice new.
Thing is – you will not quite enjoy the view.
All people are disgusted by their lives and bored.
I didn’t see it being drunk as lord.

You will be patient, and you will stay out of fight.
Try to assume that this life is extremely bright.
When you are sober, you are never wild or rude.
So, why did I decide that it was good?!

Ah, right, it’s good for health and it will make you strong
And capable of living very sad, but long.
Enable you to fully move, inhale and hear.
It’s shameful not to try it once a year!

Here, on my shelf I have some vodka made of rice,
That’s due.
It’s always given me much better of advice
Than you.
And if you don’t know what to do, or whom you wanna be
Become a soberist, my fellow, just like me.
