Taking Flight

The laws of nature disappoint,
Light speed's a limit absolute,
To spread, our culture must disjoint,
Ram scoops will crawl their starry routes,
A dozen ships, no more, set sail,
Before the war that burnt Earth clean,
Procaryotes survived it seems,
Our mission cannot, must not, fail.

Each system where the human race
Could make a home we plant a seed,
Zygotes, AI, and all they need,
To make a home, long odds they face,
At last, a voice, the radio!
Alas, it is but one we know.
