Think Not
by Teresa Marita McGuire

I dare not think what tomorrow may bring because suddenly
someone changes my tomorrow

I dare not do what makes sense to me because eventually
someone tells me to consider things differently

I dare not contemplate what might calm this mental chaos because
chaos recreates itself after awhile

Perhaps thoughts were woven routinely until
I began to stir my ideas

Wondering pondering and coexisting in a maze of
colorful creativity lacking punctuated boundaries

So I will savor poems
sweet words God gives to me
in hints of His breath
to fuse with my own inclination

I will swing with poems
melodic words that dance in my heart
until they sway my mind and
spill into the universe for you to inhale

I will speak in poems
devoted voice of love understanding and comfort
from me to you as
together we nod in cadence to poetic patterns

I will prevail through my poems
everlasting life to exhale here and now
sharing experiences that shape character
sift flaws dim fears and conceive actions

Inspiring me to write poetry and
think not for
my poems have minds
of their own.
