How cool! — you’ve outgrown gravity,
yet have no substance anymore.
Imperishable, you can see
beyond the edge of time, before

the universe was born. Yet, though
you’ve learned to outgrow gravity,
cannot recall how warmth would flow
between two bodies. You and me —

as different as the sky and sea.
You comprehend the quantum world,
you’ve learned to outgrow gravity
and, with undreamed-of speed, have hurled

yourself across what space defies,
yet cannot hear a rustling tree,
nor recognize a lover’s eyes.
But yes, you’ve outgrown gravity.
