Darkness consuming
upon my awakening

the blood is cold
and muscles stiffening

a tai chi morning
marking a silent road

with body loosened deep
and a morning ferry walk

I listen to Shakespeare talk
in drifting sleep

but leave this dream
for a cafe stop

and mocha bought, the leaf on top
concealed by whipping cream

the words come slow
and flow into espresso double-shot

that lifts the fog before a client jot
with necktie worn for show
