It is amazing how the mind works, as well as confusing. Our mind can shelter us by
creating another person or "personality" to help us cope with or escape traumatic events,it can give us different realities, other worlds, imaginary friends. The possibiliies are endless when we want or need to escape from reality, from the terrors and monsters thatmost only read about in books watch in movies or hear tales of over the dancing flames of camp fires. Or we learn to supress it, sometimes the desire to believe that it never happened is so strong that we force our mind to lock it away into the darkest corners to be forgotten and we go on about our lives just as if it had never happened. The years go by without so much as a flashback, nightmare, not another thought given about it. We share stories with family and friends of times that surrounded what we had chosen to lock away with no mention or connection of the banished memory. It seems like theres just a time gap. People say it's like a black empty hole. Parts of their lives that they can't remember...That is where all of us that fought so hard to not remember go wrong... when we realize that there are parts of our past that have holes, empty spaces, or don't exist when they should. Such as childhood memories of picnics, Christmas morning, birthdays, fishing or riding a bike. So we start thinking, continue thinking racking our brains trying to remember any little thing that could possibly help our past make sense... In no time at all, something small such as a flavor hitting taste buds, the way a material feels in your hands, how the trees line a road in a familiar pattern, the words to a song you've heard a thousand times over strike you differently, even a lingering faint scent of a flower or perfume can send us back to what, who, where, when and why those blanks existed in our lives.
