ANGRY SKIES

I’m sure that I detect a rumble of distant thunder
The air seems strangely heavy, with much in store
I suppose there will be the usual flashes of lighting
Yet it is just another storm, and hardly frightening
But when all goes silent and still, then it feels raw
With a growing sense of dread and left to wonder

But then, why would one ever be concerned at all
And it is said that lighting never strikes you twice
Once was enough, I survived, and now I am safe
Even though on my sensitive skin it still can chafe
So, now I shall ignore all of that worry and advice
And just wait awhile for the torrential rain to fall

And when those bright flashes illuminate the skies
I can just shrug, and relish being out here all alone
It was an odd effect that lightning strike had on me
But I’m not asking for or expecting, any sympathy
Since then my heart has somehow turned to stone
And yet now can sense what a logical mind defies
