Now wend we to the Palmalle —
Domine, quo vadis? men call it,
Where Peter met with Jesu
And said, " Lord, whither wilt Thou? "
Christ answered to Peter tho.
" Into Rome, " he said, " I go,
Eft to die on Rood for thee:
Thou dreadest to die, Peter, for me. "
" Lord, " he said, " Mercy I cry,
To take my death I am ready. "
There is a sign of His foot
On the marblestone where He stood.
