Poems from the Henn Manuscript - Part 5
Oh eyes of pitiful beauty
And infinite love!
Oh eyes that smile and lighten above
My heart that can own no duty
Save merely to catch one glance of your endless light,
And merge its rapture into the starry night!
Eyes not mine, not mine in the sight of a friend
For you alone spoke, despite your silent lips,
But, oh eyes, your look had a magic to glance eclipse
On the stars of night; to stir passion without an end.
