"They Sadden The Muse Of Music" By Chidi Anthony Opara

They sing songs like
"partee after partee........",
They sing obscenities,
They sing shallowness
And ask us to
"make some noise for DJ shallow!".

They would neither sing songs like
"until the philosophy
Of the colour of a man's skin.......".

Nor would they sing songs like
"if you call am African woman......".

They sing songs like
"partee after partee........",
They sing obscenities,
They sing shallowness,
They sadden the muse of music.

"You Picked A Fine To Leave" By Chidi Anthony Opara

(Tribute To Kenny Rogers)

Good bye songbird,
Good bye poet,
Good bye thespian.

You,
Who wrote poetry
With your voice
And caressed eardrums
With your baritone,
Eyes with your stage walks.

You picked a fine time
To leave Kenny.
A time when ovation is loudest.

Good bye songs supremo,
You,
Who was and still is,
The mouthpiece of good gods,
Good bye Kenny Rogers.

You picked a fine time to leave,
A time when ovation is loudest.

Corona By Chidi Anthony Opara

At the large laboratory,
At the garden
Close to the Golgotha,
They cloned it
And called it
Corona.

Like the bullets
And the rockets
They shoot from Golan,
They shot corona
Into the land of Shinto.

Like wildfire
Corona flew and spread.
All corners of earth
Got shares of corona.

The deaths are frequent,
The deaths are many.
The dead are buried by the dying.
Mourners
Minimized by frequency of deaths.

Lockdown By Chidi Anthony Opara

Agwu,
The deity of mischief
Pushed
Polluted air to our earth,
Our earth is polluted,
Our earth is locked down.

Strong men,
Strong women,
The men of straw
And the women of straw
All are subdued now,
The state is subdued.

Even the royals are roped
And laid on the open
With gusts of polluted air
Cruising
On their over pampered bodies.

Agwu prances
With mischievous smile
While
People of the earth
Writhe in painful dry coughs.
